Why product photos need a different setting
Marketplace guidelines — Amazon, Etsy, Shopify themes — usually want a pure white or transparent background with the product filling most of the frame. Product shots also have the hardest edges to cut: transparent glass, thin straps, reflective metal. The Quality preset runs a higher-resolution matte with edge refinement, which is slower than Standard but keeps those details.
Output for every channel
Export a transparent PNG for design work, a WebP for the web (same transparency, much smaller), or place the product on a white background right in the tool. The optional soft shadow keeps the item from looking pasted on.

Have a catalog? The same model is available through the Images API and the MCP server, so a script or an AI assistant can process hundreds of photos with identical settings.
Product photos — questions
The Quality preset is tuned for it; semi-transparent areas get a partial alpha instead of a hard cut. Very complex reflections may still need a manual touch-up in Image Studio.
Most require JPG on white or PNG. Export PNG with the white background option if transparency is not accepted.

Frequently Asked Questions
The AI works best on photos with a clear distinction between the subject and the background. Portraits, product shots, and images with solid or blurred backgrounds produce the cleanest cutouts. Complex backgrounds with similar colors to the subject may require manual touch-up.
Currently the tool processes one image at a time. Upload a new image after each result to process the next one.
The result is always a PNG file with a transparent alpha channel. PNG is the standard format for images with transparency and works in all browsers, design tools, and presentation software.
The model handles hair, fur, and semi-transparent edges reasonably well. For very fine hair strands against a complex background, some fringing may occur. In those cases, a quick manual cleanup in a photo editor gives the best result.
