All effectsPaper Cut Effect — how it works
Layered paper-craft look with cut-out shapes and soft shadows.
How the layers are made
The photo is split by brightness into a few flat layers, like sheets of colored paper cut along the contours. Each layer gets a drop shadow cast on the one beneath it, and a light paper grain goes over everything so the result looks physical rather than posterized.
Palette and light
Photo colors keep the original palette; Pastel paper uses soft craft-paper tones; White on white makes a monochrome paper sculpture where only shadows show the shape. Light angle sets where the shadows fall.
Best subjects
Landscapes with hills and sky, simple portraits and bold logos turn into the most readable paper art. Use fewer layers for graphic results, more for detailed ones.
