What to expect from a photo
A photograph has continuous tones, so an SVG version is a stylised poster-like rendering, not a pixel-exact copy: the tracer reduces the image to a set number of color layers (16–64 works well) and fits smooth shapes to each. The result is scalable, printable and often striking — think screen-print or paper-cut looks.
Detail vs file size
More colors and a lower minimum path area keep detail but grow the SVG quickly — a busy photo can exceed a megabyte. Start with the Photo preset, then reduce colors until the file size and look balance for your use.
JPG artefacts
Heavy JPG compression adds blocky noise the tracer may pick up as tiny shapes. Raise the minimum path area or denoise the image first with the AI Image Enhancer for cleaner regions.
JPG to SVG — questions
If the JPG contains a flat-color logo, yes — switch to the Logo preset for tight curves and few colors.
Up to 10 MB per image; larger images are downscaled before tracing.
Popular conversions
How the Image Vectorizer Works
Turn any bitmap image into a scalable SVG vector — perfect for logos, icons, and illustrations that need to look crisp at every size.
Raster to Vector
Automatically trace bitmap images (PNG, JPG, BMP) into clean SVG paths. The algorithm detects edges and curves, producing scalable graphics that stay sharp at any resolution.
Fine-tune Results
Adjust detail level, color count, and smoothing to control the output. Preview changes in real time before exporting. Works best with logos, icons, and illustrations.
Instant Processing
Vectorization runs server-side using optimized tracing algorithms. Most images are converted in under a second, with no software installation required.
Export Clean SVG
Download production-ready SVG files with optimized paths. Copy the SVG code directly for use in HTML, CSS, or design tools like Figma and Illustrator.
Frequently Asked Questions
Images with clear edges and limited colors produce the best results — logos, icons, line art, and simple illustrations. Photographs with complex gradients will be simplified into flat color regions, which can create an artistic effect but will not look photorealistic.
Raster images (PNG, JPG) are made of pixels and become blurry when enlarged. Vector images (SVG) are made of mathematical paths and stay perfectly sharp at any size. Vectors are ideal for logos, icons, and print materials.
Yes. The exported SVG is standard markup that can be opened in any vector editor such as Adobe Illustrator, Figma, Inkscape, or our built-in SVG Editor. You can also edit the code directly in any text editor.
You can upload images up to 10 MB. Very large images are automatically downscaled before tracing to keep processing fast. For best results, use images between 500 and 4000 pixels on the longest side.
